曹雪芹的“丑祸”是什么？
《蒋勋说红楼梦》（159）
一、曹雪芹写《红楼梦》真写到动人处，他用墨反而很淡，几乎不着痕迹。这是让读者自己去调动自己曾经的深情时刻，这种留白是非常高级的写法。
1. When Cao Xueqin wrote the truly moving parts of "Dream of the Red Chamber", his brushwork becomes very light, almost imperceptible. This is to allow readers to draw upon their own moments of deep emotion. Such use of negative space is a highly advanced writing technique.
二、每一个人的爱，表达的方式都不一样，袭人觉得把宝玉梳头、洗脸、吃饭、冷热都照顾到就是“爱”；对黛玉来说，爱是要还上辈子没有还完的东西。
2. Everyone expresses love differently. Xiren believes that taking care of Baoyu's every need—combing his hair, washing his face, his meals, his warmth and coolness—is "love." For Daiyu, love is about repaying what was left unfinished in their previous lifetime.
三、宝玉把要对黛玉表白的话错说给袭人听，袭人听后便流泪了，她把一生都托付给宝玉了，可如今看到他因为一个女孩儿弄的一身都是病，如果将来成了个不才之人，自己该怎么办？她的泪和黛玉的泪动机不一样。
3. Baoyu mistakenly confessed his feelings for Daiyu to Xiren. Upon hearing this, Xiren shed tears. She had entrusted her entire life to Baoyu, but now she saw him sickened over another girl. What would become of her if he turned out worthless in the future? The motivation behind her tears was different from Daiyu's.
四、袭人便“心下暗度，如何处治方免此丑祸”。注意“丑祸”两个字，从袭人的角度看，黛玉跟宝玉的这个关系是一桩“丑祸”。
4. Xiren then "pondered in her heart how to handle this to avoid this 'shameful calamity'." Note the term "shameful calamity" . From Xiren's perspective, the relationship between Daiyu and Baoyu was precisely that—a shameful calamity.
五、可是曹雪芹不见得这么认为，他写的是一段很美的真情。或许他认为自己年少时别人眼中的“丑祸”却是自己内心深处所珍惜的爱情。
5. However, Cao Xueqin likely did not share this view. He was writing about a beautiful, genuine. Perhaps he believed that what others saw as a "shameful calamity" in his youth was, in fact, the love he cherished deep in his heart.
