一、西班牙人贝纳文特生于儿科医生家庭，他读法律时却为了戏剧放弃了学业，他先是跟随一个马戏班子去各地演出，后来加入了一个剧团，正式当了演员。
1. The Spaniard Jacinto Benavente was born into a pediatrician's family. While studying law, he abandoned his studies for theater, first traveling with a circus troupe to perform in various places, then joining a theater company to officially become an actor.
二、在巡回演出中，他广泛接触了社会，为他的创作积累了丰富的材料。他多次游历欧美各国，接触了易卜生、萧伯纳、梅特林克等人的现代戏剧。
2. During his touring performances, he extensively engaged with society, accumulating rich material for his writing. He traveled multiple times to countries in Europe and America, encountering modern drama by Ibsen, Shaw, Maeterlinck, and others.
三、贝纳文特很喜爱莎士比亚、莫里哀等人的西欧古典戏剧，多次翻译并改编过他们的剧作。1894年，他的剧本《别人的窝》在马德里上演大获成功，之后他写了两百多剧本，其中《利害牵制》被公认为最成功的剧本。
3. Benavente greatly admired classical Western European drama by Shakespeare, Molière, and others, translating and adapting their works multiple times. In 1894, his play "The Other's Nest" achieved great success in Madrid. Subsequently, he wrote over two hundred plays, among which "Bonds of Interest" is recognized as his most successful work.
四、贝纳文特的剧本大都不够深刻，但轻快流畅，饶有风趣，人物对话尤为精彩，往往富于哲理意味，寓意深长，使他成为继埃切加赖之后风靡一时的戏剧大师。
4. Most of Benavente's plays are not profoundly deep but are light, smooth, and quite witty. The dialogues are particularly brilliant, often rich in philosophical meaning and profound implications, establishing him as a wildly popular drama master following Echegaray.
